Sága Foods Plc. is one of the largest Hungarian poultry meat processing companies with an annual turnover of EUR 30 million. Our company has a heritage of more than 80 years in the Hungarian poultry business. It is based in Sárvár, in the Western part of Hungary. Since 2016 Sága belongs to the 2 Sisters Food group.
Our product range includes cooked products (frankfurters, hams, Bolognese, cold cuts) and frozen-breaded convenience products. Sága not only supplies the local Hungarian market with its quality poultry products, but delivers also to export markets, selling its products through retail chains, international wholesalers and food service wholesalers.
Our mission is to raise the quality standard of meat products on the Hungarian market by introducing Western hygiene, quality and technological standards, using its internal Bernard Matthews network and knowledge base.
Sága is the strongest brand in the poultry and turkey meat categories in Hungary, and is associated with high quality and innovative products. According to consumer researches Sága’s total brand awareness is 95%.
In the Hungarian branded poultry market Sága is very well positioned: it has leading positions in the frankfurter segment and second places in the Bolognese and ham categories.

Sága’s headquarters and main production facilities are located in Sárvár in Western Hungary, in the Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest triangle, where the cooked products are produced.

Cooked product segment:
This segment includes all activities related to the production and distribution of cooked products. The product portfolio of this business line is dominated by branded products such as pre-packed frankfurters, Bolognese, hams, and other cold cuts. At our Sárvár location we have two conjoined plants:
· Frankfurter producing plant: includes a state-of-the-art, semi-automated, efficient production and packaging line for cooked, collagen coated frankfurters, built in 2006 with 6,100 ton annual capacity.
· General cooked product producing plant: Production and packaging lines for Bolognese, hams and other cold cuts, various frankfurters and sausages with 12,000 ton annual capacity.
Frozen breaded product segment:
In the frozen breaded portfolio we offer fully cooked and semi-finished products, e.g. meat balls, sliced meats and filled products.
Sága complies with all relevant quality standards (HACCP, BRC and IFS) required by the authorities and partners on its markets.
Sága produces its products under the following branding:
· “Sága” (“A” brand) - high quality branded poultry products
· “Sága Fini Mini” (Kids’ brand) - high added value products for kids
· Private Label products in line with customers’ requirements
· Catering packs (e.g. restaurants, schools, menu bars)
For the above-mentioned product categories we are using different types of packaging e.g. vacuum packs, MAP packaging, plastic bags, carton boxes and plastic cups.
Our latest innovation, Snacki&GO! hit the market in microwaveable plastic cup. We are ready to use this packaging for different types of products as well, for example cheese or meat balls, ham cubes etc.
The frankfurter business is the most important segment for us, contributing to 68% of our cooked product sales. Sága is the market leader in this category on the Hungarian market.
Sága offers frankfurters in the following categories:
· Premium category
· “Wiener” type
· Vacuum packed, collagen coated (packaging from 140g to 350g)
· Traditional francs
· Frozen products
We are able to produce lactose and gluten free francs that do not contain added soya either.
Hams, Bolognese and other Cold-cuts
Ham products make an important part of Sága’s product portfolio. These products are made of turkey or chicken thigh and drumstick meat and could be sliced to normal, or wafer thin slices - a unique feature of the Sága ham products.
Bolognese is also important for us, as this is the biggest cold-cut category in Hungary. While traditionally it is made of pork meat, Sága introduced healthier variations (turkey and chicken products) successfully when it entered the cooked product market 20 years ago.
Other cold-cuts: Turkey and chicken breast ham, meets the newest nutrition trends, with its low fat content and high protein content.
Turkey thigh meat in aspic: This real delicacy is made of brined turkey thigh meat.
Spring turkey roll: special turkey thigh meat product with cheese, red paprika, carrot dices and green peas.
Kids’ range: “Fini Mini”
Our goal was to develop a range especially designed and prepared for kids. The high added value products contain high percentage (80 %) of turkey or chicken meat, added Calcium and Vitamins and uniquely provide a better choice for kids to eat healthier.
The members of the cooked Fini Mini family are mini turkey frankfurters, turkey Bolognese and chicken ham.
The breaded products under the Fini Mini brand are the Dinosaurs (plain formatted turkey or chicken breast meat) and the Chicken Nuggets. These fully-cooked products contain added Calcium and fibre, and are being produced with sea salt.
Frozen breaded products
This range of convenience products target the top- and middle-segments of the market. Most products are formed ground meat, but whole-muscle meat products are also available. We offer both fully-cooked and semi-finished products.
The main products are the Meat Balls (Classic, Hot spicy, cheese-filled, Mini Kiev), the Cordon Bleu products, Dinosaurs, Nuggets. We also offer breaded cheese and vegetables to complete our meal selection.
